The hard part is making this a consistent habit. In Driven by Distraction, the author Howell suggests putting stuff to do in an orderly and easily accessible way by color coding folders. In other words don't put the work in a pile to be lost and forgot about try to deal with it right away. If the work doesn't get accomplished then at least a little work was done and must dos can be broken down into mini tasks.
Thus progressing to not digress.
A few other tips I'm learning:
- Crossing tasks off with a list with a red pen
- Writing "paid" on a bill is stress relieving once dealt with.
- Use calendars electronically to e-mail self once deadlines are approaching.
Productivity in terms of what I'm learning speeds up once I agree to organize to-do lists and that's leaving less to worry about later.
