My Plan for 2011

It's 2011. I don't blog as much as I used to and apparently I skipped out on my plan for 2010. I'm returning to semi-form here and updating my outlook for this year and the ability to be proactive. I don't think anyone reads this blog anymore (but will pretend they do).

The Setup
[^] - accomplished
[-] - not accomplished

Previous goals for 2009 (2010 combined since I skipped last year):
01. Mend personal issues in counseling. [^]
Half way through the year we ended couples counseling to mend our own personal issues. Meanwhile, I attended personal counseling. I started my first breakthroughs when I made that transition.
02. Learn to manage stress efficiently. [^]
I've learned a great deal about emotional responding to triggers and have been able to keep my cool. Another improvement I've done is limiting myself to 1-3 drinks and not getting drunk.
03. Learn to listen, appreciate, respect and trust my wife more. [^]
I'm still working on listening, but I'm a lot more trusting than I used to be.
04. Care more about others and be less selfish. [^]
Doing what I can here. I think being humble and looking where I can help others benefits all.
05. Give the GMAT a try. If I do well -> Masters. [^]
I applied to Towson for a Post-Bachelor Certificate Program in IMD, but have been hesistant to go on. I want to figure out what I really want to do with my career and brave poor job markets; be recession proof.
06. Learn more about about strategy for board & card games.
Decided to skip on this one. Although I found out I enjoy playing Scrabble with my in-laws.
07. Pay off both our cars. [-]
My car is paid off, still working on my wifes.
08. Go see a concert or two. [-]
Didn't see a show surprisingly, but I saw Conan live and Beauty & the Beast play.
09. Become closer to God, Church, and the Word. [^]
Success here. I completed RCIA with the Catholic church and feel closer to the community.
10. Exercise/diet daily. Target: 147 pounds. Currently: 155. [^]
I ran two half-marathons last year and get into a shape. Discovered I like roller blading again.
11. Begin saving for world wide traveling. [-]
Didn't save much, spent a fortune on Christmas this year. (Siblings had kids this year).
12. Revisit learning Spanish again. [-]
Holding on this one, to figure out career plans.
13. Visit my sister-in-law in Latin America in September. [^]
Yes, had a blast in Ecuador and saw Machu Picchu in Peru. Awesome trip!

My goals for 2011:
01. Get my career back on course (whatever occupation that may be)
02. Get my AD(h)D in check; have a structured and organized mind.
03. Be more romantic, seductive, kind, and playful.
04. Be more social, hang with friends more, get off the couch.
05. Be a better cook. I have pasta down, now to expand to beef and fish.
06. Be more physically active: hike, camp, surf, tennis, roller blade, and run.
07. Declutter all that Christmas junk we got; donate extra computer/gaming junk.
08. Read 5-10 books. Haven't read cover to cover in ages. (Thanks DVR... lol)
09. Visit my sister-in-law (now living) in Europe.

Long-term goals:
Figure out my career plans.

Bottom line:
Marriage took a toll on me last year. We nearly fell apart. I hope 2011 will be a year of healing for both of us and a life expanding one. Second (or third) chances rarely come. I've got to think of my future and not just live day to day.

What will you do in 2011?

Hey man, yeah it's been a fun ride. I have my own company now after working for another big company for several years. It's hard work like anything else, but it's what I love to do. A lot has changed over the years, both in what I do/teach and in how I see the world. I'm gradually moving away from "pickup" and more into life coaching. PU just seems to be the right vehicle to get guys into action so it's the 'catalyst,' if you will.

Would love to catch up one of these days when I'm in SD. I'm going to be in Houston and Miami on boot camp for the next month or so but shoot me an email and we'll grab a drink and swap stories.
